Description

It would be nice to have a --restore_from_checkpoint flag for the common case in which a model fails after many iterations of training.

Thanks!

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the training CLI and existing checkpoint handling, then determine how a --restore_from_checkpoint flag should select and resume a saved checkpoint. Done means the flag works for the stated failed-training case and is covered by relevant tests.
