Research direction

Start by reproducing the hot-key failure on macOS with Ctrl+J and another key combination, after confirming the app has the reported permissions. Inspect the app's hot-key handling and logging paths to determine whether key events are received; done means global shortcuts are recognized or the failure is documented with a useful log location.
