Research direction
Start at the Piano Roll and reproduce the Record MIDI behavior while playback is paused, comparing lmms-1.3.0-alpha.1.1034 with lmms-1.2.2. No source file or test is named; done means clicking Record while paused produces the expected recording behavior without requiring playback first.
