Description

This feels like it would have been requested before, but I can't find any existing issue.

In previous recording software I've used, I had an option to "arm" the recording. This means that the software waits for a trigger, such as playing a note and then starts recording. This is very useful, because it means that your recording is automatically in time with the track and anything else you might be playing along with.

I'm also curious if adding this is a task that could be completed by a beginner.

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by tracing LMMS's existing recording and key-input paths, then clarify the trigger behavior and acceptance criteria before estimating implementation.
