Description
There are places in main application's code with specific plug-in references. These parts should be replaced with hooks for plug-ins instead of hard coded lists. This happens with imports and configuration settings. This should also apply to audio and MIDI drivers, which should become plug-ins.

Research direction
The issue names no files or tests. Start by locating hard-coded plug-in references in the main application, including imports, configuration settings, and audio and MIDI drivers. Done means these references are replaced by plug-in hooks rather than fixed lists.
