Research direction
Start by reproducing the replacement described in the issue: set an instrument to mixer channel 3, replace it with an instrument from favorites, and inspect the resulting channel. Trace the instrument replacement path and mixer-channel state, then verify that replacing the instrument preserves channel 3 and add regression coverage if the project’s existing tests support this behavior.
