Why it shows this (~)

If you copy or cut passwords from one file to another file then it copy/cut file but add (~) this with the file name.
I know (~) it shows that similar password/file is available.
Please sir removed this because you copy something when you need
just same entry with little modifications.
I know that I copy it then why need this.
