The ACE editor textarea stops allowing typing sometimes

I saw this at a workshop this weekend and just got a similar report in ZenDesk.

At some points, the editor will stop responding to key presses - it won't enter new letters or new lines. It will let you change the cursor location however. Reloading the page 'fixes' it.

I looked in the ACE editor repo for related issues and couldn't find any. But it seems possible that updating ACE could fix it, as it's been a while since update, and they may have ran into it and fixed it already.

Start by reproducing the intermittent ACE editor behavior described in the issue, checking whether the editor still permits cursor movement but rejects letters and new lines. Review how this project integrates and versions ACE, then compare with relevant ACE issue history. Done means the cause is identified and typing remains responsive without requiring a page reload.
