I keep receiving a "user variable not defined" error when attempting this in my IDE (Atom).

I switched to using the jupyter notebook and that also did not work.

Research direction

Reproduce the download attempt in Atom and in a Jupyter Notebook, capturing the complete "user variable not defined" error and the code that triggers it. Trace the download function's inputs and execution context; done means the example runs without the undefined-variable error in the supported environment.
