Description

Background

YouTube has a very powerful system for automated pre-emptive detection of content uploads which may have licensing problems, and it allows owners to discover such uploads, easily request them to be taken down, or to capture revenue and intelligence.

Proposal

Obviously, such a system really only makes sense when at a certain scale, the simple takedown notice system for gateways works fine for the foreseeable future. Also, how such a system would work would need to be thought about in the context of a much more thought out application model. None the less, it would be interesting to keep this north-star objective in mind, as it long term may be really needed for an effective system that gets creator buyin long-term.
