Description

Background

In various contexts, it is useful to know what current value capture mechanisms for the DAO, in terms of $JOY, will be. I did publish an initial video explaining this

https://play.joystream.org/video/20545

, but the scope has increased, and it possibly may increase still, so opening this tracking issue to collect such mechanisms and associated discussion.

Context

In all cases, what we currently will be addressing is causes for burning $JOY, that is permanently taking units of $JOY out of supply, which is positively associated with utilization of the system. There are also other sources of $JOY value, like usage for transaction bandwidth in the core chain itself, but we are keeping this out of the core analysis here.

List

  • Gateways funding consumer access: Covered in video. The specific pricing model here is something which is hard to anticipate, but one would assume something related to volume of access, like Spotify and YouTube, would be prime candidates. Importantly, consumers would not need $JOY to unlock this.
  • Minting creator NFTs.
  • Sale of creator NFTs.
  • Sale of creator tokens in sale.
  • Sale of creator tokens from AMM.
