Use alternative syntax highlighter to highlight.js?

I would like to use Prism rather than highlight.js, because of its reduced size among other things. Is this possible?

Start by locating the current highlight.js integration in the repository and reviewing how syntax highlighting is configured. Then assess whether Prism can provide equivalent behavior and identify the required integration scope. Done means Prism replaces highlight.js without breaking the editor's existing syntax-highlighting behavior.
