Description
# Issue Description
As a developer/systems administrator, I want to be on a more modern windows version.
From a developer perspective:
- We would like to be able to run containers on the NDX machines, this requires windows >= 1909.
From a system administrator perspective:
- We would like to upgrade our windows version.
- We believe that a suitable version might be `Windows 11 IoT 2024`, we would like to try this.
### How & Where?
We will attempt to deploy the newer windows version on a small number of instrument/instrument-like machines and test IBEX on them.
# Acceptance Criteria
- [ ] We would like to deploy the windows version above to a small number of instrument or instrument-like machines.
* When we have a machine we'd like to test on, ask @ChrisM-S to deploy the appropriate version of windows on the machine(s) that you've selected.
* Ensure snapshot images have been taken so that a rollback can be done if needed (talk to @ChrisM-S )
* [ ] We have a machine with access to a real DAE of both types on SPARE80 - this may also be a useful candidate.
* [ ] Candidates would be things like ALF, EMMA-A, SELAB, MOTION etc - discuss with relevant scientists/groups to find reasonably low-risk machines. Pick a sensible selection of these types of machines.
- [ ] IBEX can be deployed
- [ ] The usual suite of post-deployment smoke tests work.
- [ ] Test:
* [ ] DAE
* [ ] Serial devices/iocs
* [ ] TCP devices/iocs
* [ ] Twincat
* [ ] The IBEX GUI renders sensibly (this should mostly be covered by post-deployment smoke tests)
- [ ] Try to run a reasonably representative user workflow on one of the test machines above, note any issues discovered, maybe in discussion with scientists/users.
- [ ] Document findings from all of the above tests so that we know what works and what doesn't.
* [ ] Create any further issues as required from testing.
