Description
As a user I would like to be able to control USB devices. It is impractical to control these directly from the instrument machine as they will not be physically nearby and there is no USB cabling infrastructure. However, there is ethernet infrastructure. Therefore we need a way of controlling USB devices over ethernet. There are a number of potential options:
* https://www.silextechnology.com/connectivity-solutions/device-connectivity/ds-600
* Raspberry Pi running something like https://www.virtualhere.com/
* https://www.digi.com/products/networking/usb-connectivity/usb-over-ip/anywhereusb
* https://www.moxa.com/en/spotlight/serial-connectivity/tsp/index
## Acceptance Criteria
* A document on the wiki detailing the pros and cons of each approach including:
* How the solution works with a VM connecting the USB
* Throughput speeds
* Easy of setup
* Maintainability
* Reliability
* A decision made on which should be the standard going forward (potentially different solutions for different cases)
