Description
In ticket #2180 there was an issue which may have been caused by inappropriate edits to `globals.txt`. We should decide whether this file should be edited by instrument scientists or not and take appropriate action to prevent issues such as #2180 from reoccuring.
If this file is only intended to be modified by developers, find out how the instrument scientists can maintain the workflows they need without editing it.
