Description

Overview of the Feature Request

Some installations might like to disallow the use of the :authenticated-users meta-group, which at present is always available. For instance, an installation might wish to prevent a collection owner from allowing :authenticated-users to add content to their collection, which may be overly broad and result in unintended consequences.

What kind of user is the feature intended for?

I'm imagining a database setting: :DisableAuthenticatedUsers or, if there are more meta-groups, perhaps a :DisabledGroups list?

What inspired the request?

Users assigning :authenticated-users roles on their collections.

What existing behavior do you want changed?

Depending on users not to assign :authenticated-users roles on their collections.

Any brand new behavior do you want to add to Dataverse?

It's more a matter of behavior I'd like to prevent.

Any related open or closed issues to this feature request?

I didn't see any, except that this issue may be the inverse of #4515

Research direction

No files or tests are named. Start by examining how the :authenticated-users meta-group and collection roles are handled, then review related issue #4515; done would require an agreed configuration setting that prevents assigning this meta-group without disrupting other group behavior.
