Description

Overview of the Feature Request
Possibility to upload/download Dataset Templates via API (as a json file).

What kind of user is the feature intended for?
API Users, Curators

What inspired the request?
Would be useful to quickly produce multiple changes to templates (related, for example, to changes in standards used for documentation) and upload them (replace existing ones).

What existing behavior do you want changed?
Now changes to Dataset Templates are only possible via the Web interface and may take considerable time if implemented for multiple templates.

Any brand new behavior do you want to add to Dataverse?
No.

Any related open or closed issues to this feature request?
No.

Research direction

Start by reviewing how Dataset Templates are currently managed through the Web interface and how Dataverse exposes related API operations. Define the upload and download request formats, replacement behavior, and API documentation needed; done means API users can export templates as JSON and replace existing templates reliably.
