Description

What steps does it take to reproduce the issue?

  • When does this issue occur?
  1. Select dataverse collection
  2. Go to Edit > General Information > Metadata Fields
  3. Uncheck "Use metadata fields from <parent_dataverse>"
  4. Select [+] View fields + set as hidden, required, or optional for Citation Metadata
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page
  6. Toggle any field, but it is more noticeable on fields further down the list (Language and below)
  • Which page(s) does it occurs on?
    <dataverse_host>/dataverse/<dataverse_identifier>

  • What happens?

  1. There is a big blank section on the bottom of the page (after Dataverse logo/version)
  2. . The page scrolls down to a blank section of the page givng the impression that the user is redirected to a blank page. Also, the upper fields (e.g. author) trigger a smaller page scroll (if any)
  • To whom does it occur (all users, curators, superusers)?
    superuser

  • What did you expect to happen?

  1. The page scrollbar position is consistent with the visible content of the page
  2. Toggling a field does not trigger a scroll down

Which version of Dataverse are you using?
v5.8

Research direction

Reproduce the issue on a Dataverse collection by opening Edit > General Information > Metadata Fields, disabling inherited metadata fields, and toggling Citation Metadata fields near the bottom. Compare the page layout and scrollbar before and after toggling fields; done means the blank bottom area is removed and toggling no longer scrolls the page to empty content.
