Description

As of v5.14 Dataverse prefers RBAC for S3 bucket access over programmatic access keys. In some configurations administrators may need to configure programmatic access keys for S3 buckets separately from the AWS role assigned to the instance. This may be useful when an organization controls AWS roles/permissions or might be required when there are multiple datastores across multiple buckets.

Research direction

Start by tracing the S3 RBAC configuration introduced in v5.14 and the existing handling of AWS roles versus programmatic access keys. Clarify the administrator-facing setting and its behavior across multiple datastores and buckets; done means administrators can disable S3 RBAC and configure separate programmatic keys where needed.
