Description
Overview of the Feature Request
What kind of user is the feature intended for?
(Example users roles: API User, Curator, Depositor, Guest, Superuser, Sysadmin)
Superuser, Sysadmin, Curator, Depositor, Guest
What inspired the request?
- NIH GREI metadata recommendations
- Previous work the Dataverse community and the IQSS team have done to consider replacing the 14 Subject terms that ship with Dataverse
What existing behavior do you want changed?
Folks managing repositories can redesign their dataset deposit form's Subject field, in the Citation metadata block, so that depositors and curators can choose terms from a vocabulary that better describe their deposits, such as terms from the OECD Fields of Science and Technology.
This might be done by letting repository managers apply the externally managed vocabulary scripts, or some version of them that we can use for the Modern UI, to the Subjects field, when Dataverse can access terms from those vocabularies programmatically, like through an API.
