All large image examples in GitHub Pages templates are broken

Hello,
If you go to set a theme for making a repo a Pages site, the "Large Image" example is broken on every page. Here is what it looks like:

Also a bigger issue I see is whenever you add the theme on a repository, it doesn't ever actually work. Checks are broken, and the repo doesn't work.
The following is a new repository I made and named "beautify.github.io". I went straight through not changing anything, and this is how the repo ends up:

I want to make sure you are aware of this issue. I am running a Lenovo Thinkpad and the Chrome browser (official)
