Description

I would like to see an option to be able to manually control the texture filtering for 3D stuff like geometry and character models and the 2D stuff like HUD and text. This would be useful because it would allow us to keep the game world smooth whilst also having sharp pixel perfect text and icons instead of it being blurry by default. Super Mario 64 actually does this on real hardware and it looks great. If this feature is considered, I would like to see it in Majora's Mask too, of course.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by locating the existing texture-filtering controls and the rendering paths for 3D geometry versus 2D HUD and text. Done means these two categories can be configured independently, with smooth 3D visuals and sharp pixel-perfect 2D elements supported in Majora's Mask.
