Description

Recently, someone created an excellent summary table/visualization on observable, that allows you to get a quick visual overview of your data. I loaded some data downloaded via ceda into it and found it helped me quickly understand the dataset (missing data, histogram, bad values).

It would be great to provide a link to such a page to users when they download data, it could also be in pdf form as part of the download (though you'd love in interactivity). Probably more realistically, we could create a ceda data exploration page for users to drop their dataset into which would then display this summary table.

Research direction

Start with the issue description and the linked Observable example to understand the proposed summary table and visual overview. Define the intended data-entry flow and which outputs are required; done would mean users can provide a downloaded dataset and receive a useful summary including missing data, histograms, and bad-value indicators.
