Description

Not exactly my bug per se, but another explorer has reported getting a few errors when they went from 0.13 to 0.14:

Error: SoundEmitter 'NameOfTheSoundEmitter': Sound 'NameOfTheSound.ogg' failed to open file

This might just be a case of Blender forgetting the location of the sounds in the modifiers and pointing the external data to the source of the sounds might fix things, but downgrading to 0.13 restores the location data for some reason.

I believe I have also encountered this problem, but not recently. This particular instance was a secondhand description from a builder on the OU Discord. IIRC, ametist also ran into this, I think?

Anyway, just putting this out there.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the reported upgrade from 0.13 to 0.14 with a project containing sound emitters and external .ogg files. Inspect whether Blender modifier sound locations change and whether downgrading restores them; the issue is done when the cause is identified and sound locations remain usable after upgrading.
