If I may suggest an idea

We currently have Jetpack Markdown with, what I think is a bad implementation, saved markdown in the post_content_filtered column AND the visual editor still enabled. I much prefer a solution where I could simply write and save in the Markdown format. (like the Wordpress Typewriter plugin does). But we are still lacking a good write and preview mode.

MarkPress seems to be a great idea, albeit maybe to much for the simple need exposed in this issue. Do you think a spin-off plugin that simply adds an editing/preview pane would be something possible?
