Description
As discussed in https://github.com/GalSim-developers/GalSim/pull/568#issuecomment-47561275 and subsequent comments, we may want to make a simplified version of the scripts that did the main GalSim validation tests for the GalSim paper, so that we can check that they are still okay when we tag a new version. The latest proposal on that issue was to focus on the 3 key tests that we did, for just the default values of GSParams / interpolants. More discussion and/or work can happen here on this issue.

Research direction
Start by reading the discussion in pull request 568 and its subsequent comments to recover the proposed scope. Identify the three key GalSim paper validation tests and how their default GSParams and interpolant settings are currently exercised. Done means a simplified, repeatable set of scripts can check those tests when a new version is tagged.
