Description

In addition to permeability update that is addressed by the PR #1455, it is important to update also the elastic moduli with porosity, damage and stress change. Actually simple update with stress change is addressed by the PR #1336 following the elastic law associated to the Modified CamClay model. This law is only relevant for soil but not for rock.

I propose to consider appropriate petrophysical model in the framwork of homogenization theories (Hashin-Shtrikman, Self-consistent, Mori-Tanaka, DEM, etc.) for cracked porous heterogeneous media for this purpose.

Research direction

Start by reviewing PR #1455 for the permeability update and PR #1336 for the existing stress-based elastic-moduli update. Then identify the relevant constitutive-model entry points and determine how a homogenization approach for cracked porous media should account for porosity, damage, and stress in both soil and rock. Done requires an agreed petrophysical model and its implementation, with validation defined for the affected cases.
