Show the contribution of selected features to an aggregate chart

A well known requirement for desktop charts is to interact with a map. I.e., selecting feature(s) in the map should highlight corresponding data element(s) in the graph and vice versa. This can be achieved by implementing an API that allows to store an additional data (OIDs?) with the chart data element. It would be also beneficial to be able to partially highlight a chart data element for aggregate charts like histograms when a subset of features is selected in the map.
