using madgraph to study processes at the EP collider with Pythia8 and Delphes enabled

We were using madgraph to study processes at the EP collider with Pythia8 and Delphes enabled, but were informed this approach is incorrect. This is because Pythia8 cannot be used for colliders with asymmetric initial states. We would like to understand: if we wish to include detector simulations, what changes do we need to make when Pythia8 is enabled? Or is it simply not possible to study processes at the EP collider with fast detector simulations?
