Youmi Oh at NOAA is involved in research that suggests that most global methane models underestimate the methane soil sink due to high affinity methanotrophs.
From Youmi "I am working on arctic and global methane soil sink modeling by combining the microbial model of high affinity methanotroph (Oh et al., 2016) and Terrestrial Ecosystem Model that my advisor, Dr. Qianlai Zhuang, uses. The field and laboratory evidence of the under-estimated soil sink by high affinity methanotrophs in Arctic mineral soils can be found from these papers (Jorgensen et al., 2015; Lau et al., 2015). "
