Description
It would be nice to have a similar script to [FATES](https://github.com/NGEET/fates/blob/main/testing/run_fates_tests.py) so that we can run small pieces of the CTSM code. Once we move the FATES methods into [CIME](https://github.com/ESMCI/cime/issues/4651), this will be more straightforward and have less duplication from the FATES script.
