Description

Hi CMEPS folks,

I just have a question about the the air temperature used in computing transfer coefficients in Large Pond Scheme.

Specifically `thbot` is referenced in these two places (corresponding to [Large and Yeager 2004](https://opensky.ucar.edu/islandora/object/technotes%3A434)'s equation 7(b) and 8(a), respectively)
https://github.com/ESCOMP/CMEPS/blob/2a915919005a8beb9fa0e3ab68d676da634e53b4/cesm/flux_atmocn/flux_atmocn_Large.F90#L226
and https://github.com/ESCOMP/CMEPS/blob/2a915919005a8beb9fa0e3ab68d676da634e53b4/cesm/flux_atmocn/flux_atmocn_Large.F90#L253

But in Large and Yeager (2004), 7(b) and and 8(a) use different temperatures T(z) and Tv. I am wondering why CMEPS treats them as the same, and what is the impact to the fluxes as such or there is something else I missed.

Thanks you.

Research direction

Read cesm/flux_atmocn/flux_atmocn_Large.F90 at the referenced lines and compare the use of thbot with equations 7(b) and 8(a) in Large and Yeager (2004). Determine whether the shared temperature is intentional and quantify or explain its effect on the fluxes; done means providing a resolved explanation or identifying the needed correction.
