### What's going wrong?

I recently started getting a notification from Droidify with the text "open the app to resume updates". I'm confused about this notification. What does it mean? When I press it, the notification goes away and Droidify opens but it says nothing about updates.

In the Droidify settings I have "auto update apps" enabled so I expect updates to happen in the background without any action from me. The Android app settings for Droidify allow background usage.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are identified. Start by reproducing the notification on the reported Pixel 6 with Android 17 and GrapheneOS, then trace the background update notification flow. Done means the notification's wording and behavior clearly match the app's update state and auto-update setting.
