Description
I think it would be useful to be able to set the maximum width of posts in macOS (and maybe iPadOS?) version, so that when you view the app full screen, especially on wide monitors, it would be less problematic to read. Such a feature could be turned on and off in the settings, and where there would be blank space, you could either set a background or add other columns (something like Advanced Mode on the Mastodon site).

Research direction
Start by locating the macOS and iPadOS post-view layout and the settings entry point. Clarify whether the request only constrains post width or also defines the surrounding blank space and extra columns; done means the selected width and settings behavior work in full-screen views.
