Description

Environment:

  • OS:
    iOS v17
  • IceCubesApp version:
    1.6.15

Description

Images are viewable on all toots in thumbnail form, but opening them up has a chance of showing a black/blank image, a notice referencing its Data only, or it might render properly. This generally happens outside of Mastodon-specific instances.

Example Profile with working and not working images:
https://misskey.io/@chanoha (CW: Some toots may be NSFW and are appropriately marked as such, below examples are SFW)
Specifically not working: https://misskey.io/notes/9g0kqpzioh
(Image of Kirby surfing)
Specifically working:
https://misskey.io/notes/9fwevpzw1b
(Image in profile of a girl in a suit)
Comes back with “Original DATA: ” instead of the image:

Research direction

Reproduce the issue on iOS 17 with IceCubesApp 1.6.15 using the working and failing Misskey note URLs in the report. Compare thumbnail display with the full-image view and the cases showing a blank image or “Original DATA”; done means supported remote images render consistently when opened.
