Research direction
Reproduce on iOS 16.4.1 with IceCubesApp 1.6.15: disable media autoplay, open a GIF, and press play. Trace the GIF playback entry point and verify that, after the first play, the animation loops continuously until it loses focus instead of showing another play button.
