Description
I would like to request that the app not attempt to recover every single toot that I missed while I was away from the app, but rather recover only a smaller number of them. This will make the app much faster and more responsive, which is always a good thing.
In order to implement this feature, I suggest that you leave some sort of "read more" placeholder for those toots that were not recovered. This will allow me to easily access those toots that I missed and read them at my own pace, without slowing down the app.

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Begin by locating initial toot recovery in the iOS app, then clarify the recovery limit and placeholder behavior with maintainers; done means only the agreed window is recovered while older missed toots remain accessible.
