1. When we change exposure
2. "Periodically" outside of that
We can probably add some logic for if we're running at a different exposure take a pedestal. The second point is harder. Might be that we could add a PV that is "time since last pedestal" then check that before each collection. Either way we need to discuss with the scientists
## Acceptance Criteria
- Automatic pedestals are discussed wit scientists
- Requirement is written up here and implemented
