Ideas for waveform replay

It would be desirable to add to MBF the option to drive arbitrary signals onto the beam. This would appear as another bunch-by-bunch controlled DAC output option, and would be fed from an uploaded waveform.

One option would be to support the replay of an arbitrary bunch rate waveform, but there are considerable challenges in making this work reliably, particularly in parallel with data capture. An alternative promising idea is to read data from memory at a slower rate (say 5MHz) and up-convert to a relatively narrow band target frequency.

This will not happen soon.
