Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reproducing the motor shield's need for a manual reset during Raspberry Pi boot and inspect the Python motor-shield initialization path. Done means the shield can be reset programmatically and no longer usually requires manual intervention at boot.
