[BUG] High GPU usage

### Describe your issue

When the UI is in view the GPU usage is constantly around 60-70%:

If I minimize the app the gpu usage goes way down:

Clearly there's some issue with the implementation of the new front-end and not even a browser showing a page with animations has this high gpu usage.

The igpu is an Intel Iris Xe graphics (igpu of intel i7 13800H) with the latest available drivers v32.0.101.7088
