store predictions in a @preds slot

store daily and inst predictions in a @preds slot instead of @metab_daily and @data; it's messy to keep input data and predictions in the same data structures, especially because instantaneous predictions may include overlapping time windows while instantaneous inputs are not allowed to do this, etc.
