Description

Can this project start using semantic versioning for releases, instead of incrementing what is traditionally the "patch" field in the version number? The vast majority of PHP packages follow semantic versioning, so users will expect it. As well, I think it's safe to say this library meets the definition of a stable release.

Start by reviewing the project's current release and versioning process, then read the semver.org definition linked in the issue. Determine the compatibility and release rules that need to change; done means package releases consistently use semantic-versioning increments.
