stuff to work on while idle

let's dispatch some sub-agents to handle a few different issues:
- issue #217 (github login)
- site UI: the indicators and menu (published, paper pipeline, in progress, etc.) don't work well when the browser window isn't very wide, and things work really poorly on mobile
- there are a bunch of card elements (buttons, text) that aren't consistent across modals. we need to unify styling
- the "about" page has gotten out of sync with the actual pipeline
- modals don't render markdown tables correctly
- the buttons on the about page's "How to contribute" section don't work
- the submit idea/review/feedback buttons (mostly) don't work anywhere
- the github labels have gotten cluttered; there are many unused labels that could use cleanup (e.g., issue labels)
- go through other active issues and see if there are other small tasks that can be farmed out to sub-agents.

some of these will need careful planning; this should be done with sub-agents too. try to keep the main thread clean so we don't get too distracted with these "side quests".
