A story about setting your level of desire for the fruits of some form of innovation...in advance. Say, for example, you would be happy to simply not have to worry about a sensible lifestyle for you and your kids (with a specific dollar figure) in return for giving up other potential upsides...if someone would patronize you to build what you have in mind. Or say you want to be able to accumulate a lot of capital BECAUSE you desire to be someone that puts capital into others' projects.
