Desktop docs drift vs Comfy-Desktop 1.0.38 (copy + screenshots)

## Summary

Comfy Desktop is currently **1.0.38** (`Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop`). The Mintlify pages under `installation/desktop/` still describe an older UI. Several recent user-facing features are missing, some copy is wrong, and most screenshots need a recapture.

Source of truth: [Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop) at tag `v1.0.38` (and a few commits after, through 2026-08-14).

**Already in progress (do not duplicate):** [PR #1258](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/docs/pull/1258) rewrites the startup-logs FAQ, fixes macOS log path (`~/Library/Logs/Comfy Desktop`), and renames Manage **Console** → **Terminal** in copy. Screenshots on those pages are still stale.

## 1. Settings (`installation/desktop/usage/settings.mdx`)

Preferences copy and screenshot (`comfy_desktop_settings_01_preferences.png`) are behind current `locales/en.json`:

- **Auto-launch on startup** is now a picker (`None (show dashboard)` / `Last used instance`), not the toggle **Auto-restart last instance on launch**.
- Missing: **Confirm before closing a window**.
- Missing: **Warn before running multiple instances** ([Comfy-Desktop#1394](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1394)).
- Settings overview card still mentions **theme**. Theme is forced dark ([Comfy-Desktop#1240](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1240)); drop theme from docs unless the control comes back.

Advanced screenshot (`comfy_desktop_settings_04_advanced.png`) has no **Diagnostics → Open logs folder** row. Copy for that is landing in #1258; the screenshot still needs a recapture.

## 2. Manage panel (`installation/desktop/usage/manage.mdx`)

High-impact missing features (none of these appear in docs or screenshots):

## 3. Dashboard, Cloud, login, templates

- Dashboard screenshots (`01-homepage.png`, `interface_desktop_dashboard.png`) have no **TRY FREE** cloud pill ([Comfy-Desktop#1336](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1336), relabel [Comfy-Desktop#1363](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1363)).
- **Log in** moved into the File menu ([Comfy-Desktop#1385](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1385)). Desktop login-code flow ([Comfy-Desktop#1303](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1303)) is undocumented. `account/login.mdx` covers website login, not Desktop.
- First-use Cloud recommendation for low-GPU hardware ([Comfy-Desktop#1299](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1299)) is undocumented.
- Install-picker **API-node starter templates** ([Comfy-Desktop#1341](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1341)) are undocumented. Template screenshot (`new_install_03_interface_template.png`) is likely stale (video-first / Seedance 2.5 / MiniMax H3).
- FAQ still says click **Add Installation**; Chooser copy is **New Install** / **+ New Instance**.

## 4. Linux, data locations, uninstall paths

These pages contradict each other and the app:

- `installation/desktop/linux.mdx`: Linux is **not officially supported**, build from source.
- `installation/desktop/overview.mdx`: runs on **Debian-based Linux**.
- `snippets/install/install-link.mdx`: **no Linux prebuilds**, plus it still links **`Comfy-Org/desktop`** (legacy repo).
- Comfy-Desktop README documents `.deb` and AppImage install from the ToDesktop download link.

Need a product call on “official vs community”, then one consistent story.

**Windows large-data root** (`src/main/lib/paths.ts`): new installs use `%LOCALAPPDATA%\Comfy-Desktop` (and a `Comfy-Desktop` folder on a non-system install drive). Uninstall tables still only list `%USERPROFILE%\ComfyUI-Installs` and `%USERPROFILE%\ComfyUI-Shared`. Legacy home-root users keep the old layout.

**Linux XDG config** uses package name `comfyui-desktop-2` (`~/.config/comfyui-desktop-2`), not `~/.config/Comfy Desktop`. Electron `app.getPath('logs')` still uses productName `Comfy Desktop`. Data Locations should not treat those as the same folder.

**macOS uninstall table** (`installation/desktop/macos.mdx`) still lumps logs into `~/Library/Application Support/Comfy Desktop`. App logs live in `~/Library/Logs/Comfy Desktop`.

**Stale extra-models path** (`snippets/install/external-models-desktop.mdx`) still uses Legacy Desktop `ComfyUI` app-data paths (`AppData\Roaming\ComfyUI`, `Application Support/ComfyUI`).

## 5. License and GitHub links

- Relicensed MIT → **AGPL-3.0-or-later + commercial** ([Comfy-Desktop#1343](https://github.com/Comfy-Org/Comfy-Desktop/pull/1343)). Overview/FAQ still say “fully open source” with no license note.
- Many pages still point at the **legacy** repo `github.com/Comfy-Org/desktop`:

## 6. Screenshot recapture list

Recapture against a current 1.0.38+ build. Prefer generic paths (avoid a real username in the frame). After recapture, update alt text / numbered callouts if the chrome changed (Log in in File menu, Terminal tab, TRY FREE pill).

3. Dashboard / Cloud / login / templates + homepage screenshots
4. Linux story + Windows/macOS data locations + uninstall tables
5. License note + replace `Comfy-Org/desktop` links (include `snippets/install/install-link.mdx`, which is also wrong on Linux prebuilds and “Beta”)

English first, then `pnpm translate` for ja/zh/ko.
