How to revert the frontend back to certain version?

Since the current frontend seems to be broken, especially regarding subgraphs, it is suggested to revert back to a pre-1.4 version. How do you actually do that on the portable version? It would be great to add these kind of practical information right away, together with suggestions like this, in the future.
