Expressions/Interpreters tutorial

Maybe you could do a simple mathematical interpreter (expressions)? And move on from there by adding some features (variables, functions with a single expression that returns a computed value, jumps, maybe if's?) So that some people would be interested in language design or just if someone makes a game, for in-game consoles. Give this a shot.
