Description
Dear Daniel (or Dan, or Mr. Shiffman, if you prefer),
My hands are a bit shaky today, making typing a challenge, so I'll let this be brief. I've recently become a follower of your videos, and Coding Train fan. You've made me take a close look at Processing and P5.js, as something I could really use.
My hobby is creating my own CG worlds, but existing software has usually been too limited for my interests. I'm curious if Processing is suited to do any of the following, and interested in anything already done along these lines. I plan to wade through the other suggestions here to see if others have proposed something along these or related lines. For now, though, here are the topics I'll be looking into:
• world creation with planetary shaping forces
• convection and tectonics
• erosion, related fluid dynamics
• clouds shaped by terrain and planetary motion, tidal forces, rotational forces, convection and turbulence
• physics engines -- any suited to simulation of the above?
• 3D noise as drivers, depth maps, density maps
• vector fields as methods -- applied to pixel data to simulate any of the above?
I'm willing to develop what I want, but would appreciate your take on how much could be done with Processing. I would be thrilled see tutorials or coding challenges dealing with any of these topics, so I kind of hope you find my interests inspiring!
Regards,
David Roberson
