Description

What problem does this address?

This is a request from one of the Neve Pro Customer. The customer wants to have a Block that works with a variety of video hosting platforms, lazy loaded a thumbnail, and also traded data with the major SEO plugins like Yoast, SEO Press and Rank Math.

I believe that a dedicated video block will be a great addition to the Otter Blocks Library as Video is a crucial part of placing the content on web and this block can be extremely helpful.

What is your proposed solution?

As we have different Blocks in Otter, we introduce a Dedicated Video Block where we can integrate different video hosting platforms or upload/place the video we have in WordPress Media as well, provide different functionalities to control the video like Autoplay/Mute etc. and also provide option to set a Thumbnail on the video so it takes lesser time on load.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing Otter blocks and how they integrate with WordPress Media. Define the supported video platforms, lazy-loaded thumbnail behavior, playback controls, and SEO-plugin data exchange; the work is done when the dedicated block provides the requested video sources and options.
